Colorado and more

I last went to Colorado 2 years ago next month. This time I stayed longer and got to visit my boyfriend for two days. I needed the time away. I always hate leaving, I get into a solemn mood and don't want to do anything but be alone.  These photos were taken outside of Cañon City as I was driving home. The Arkansas river was just beyond the bushes in the 2nd photo. There was a field of yellow flowers that I just had to pull over for. So beautiful.

The weather was great, although muggier than usual it was warm. In fact it was over 50% humid at times. At first I thought I was coming down with a cold or something because I kept feeling clammy. Everyone kept saying it had been raining there a lot. On my way home, that last stretch of road, less than a few miles from home the rain started dumping so hard the road the right lane was flooded, and the person in front of me was going slow, so I just followed. I was scared the Nissan Versa would float away if I stopped moving. I almost pulled over to wait out the storm, but I just wanted to get home. So I just went 15-20 mph the rest of the way home.

I took the 342 mile route. It was a long drive. Took almost 7 hours. I stopped in Alamosa both ways for gas, and on my way back I stopped for tacos.
US-285 N/US-84 W/US Hwy 285 N to CO-17 in Alamosa East
3 hr 25 min (203 mi)
Turn left onto CO-17
45 min (49.8 mi)
Take US-50 E to 15th St in Cañon City

I stopped in Santa Fe, to check out the bead store. I got some pretty 11/0 beads for my bead work. I used some last night on a project I was working on. The style is called Huichol (wheet-chol). It is so pretty. I draw my designs on my Ipad first.

This piece looks unfinished because I put the design on a slice of wood. So the area is not completely circular. I have more pieces I am working on, and will post when I'm done. I was sad that Colorado didn't have any bead stores in the area I was in. Only a yarn store. It was big, and expensive. Oh well. I was happy with the bead store in Santa Fe.
Until next time....
