New start, new stuff and more

The longest relationship I was in, 9 years. Longest job I've held, 9 and a half years. Huh, I almost made it a decade for both. However, when it's time to go, it's time to go! So I recently left my job of 9 and a half years to start a new job, that is a completely different world to me. I was running an office for a local landscaping company and I left to go work with pretty things. I am now a data entry inventory clerk in a retail store. I actually like it, it's not nearly as stressful as the office job. I don't have to answer phones, I don't have to deal with upset or late paying customers, I don't have to answer emails or send out newsletters. I just receive shipments, price tag items, and enter the information into the computer. So easy, and no stress. I am walking much more too. I also have more stable hours and yet can leave early on slow days, which is so freaking nice. I don't have to have 40 hours a week, but I do need more than 10 a week in the winter. I had to scrimp in the winter time because there isn't much to do with landscaping during the winter. But people will buy stuff in a gift shop all year. I am sure the winter does get slow, but  not so slow that I have to rely on loans and credit cards to get by.

I also have been inspired to make some new jewelry so I will be posting that on Etsy.com/shop/veraprojekt I try to add new creations on a regular basis. So check back regularly.

But before I can do that I have to restring several bracelets that I made because I used Nymo thread, and it seems that it isn't holding very well. So I will have to switch back to the beading wire. I don't know why I thought that thread would hold, even though I used double strands as well it seems to have not worked, the thread is stretching out and the beads are now loose. I'm so mad at myself, for wasting the time, but I am also glad that I haven't sold anything yet. Even the earrings I made came undone, they were the first. It was while I was taking photos of them that I noticed the issue. I will get it fixed though.

Well, it's been 2 months gone by since I wrote the above paragraphs. Since then I've settled into the new job, and I restrung the beads, I've sold a few pieces of my work and I am trying to make it a habit of posting new things every week. I wish I had more time to spend on my crafts, but I have to work also.

I went to buy silver today and the store I go to was closed. It makes me so mad to take off work early to go to a specific store, and they are closed before the hours posted. Now I will either have to wait till my day off, and go out on the busiest day, Saturday, or leave work earlier to go. So dumb. Here are some photos of some of my latest jewelry failures. I tried some different things, and I just don't really care for it. It doesn't show it the photos but I made cuts into the bezels, to try to make a design with lines, but it really didn't work out very well. So I will just keep those for myself or try to recycle the stones, and the silver. I am so out of practice with my soldering and I am using a different torch now. Butane torch, it's nice, but so damn hot and I have totally melted a few pieces. So saddening. But a lesson learned.

I also found some old pendants I made many years ago. I forgot that I made them. They've been packed away in boxes for years. I miss making jewelry. I wish I would have stuck with it. It's really hard starting over. My hands hurt and my skin is beat up. Now days I don't have any machines to do any kind of polishing. So I do it all by hand which has led to a case of tennis elbow. So I have to rest for days before starting up again. Oh, and I am learning Navajo at my new job, which has been really fun! Ahéhee (Thank you)
